In 2020, GLIDE partnered with The Carter Center in December 2020, to support the roll out of a nationwide lymphatic filariasis surveillance survey in the Dominican Republic that includes integrated testing for malaria and other vector-borne diseases of interest.
Eliminating malaria and lymphatic filariasis from Hispaniola will create a malaria-free Caribbean and will half the number of countries fighting to eliminate lymphatic filariasis in the Western Hemisphere. To achieve this goal and enhance the well-being of the island, cross-border collaboration is essential and sends a strong signal of how this can be possible even in the most difficult circumstances.
