In 2023, GLIDE launched its third iteration of the Falcon Awards for Disease Elimination focussing on accelerating disease elimination in the Western Pacific region through formative research and advocacy initiatives. Six projects were selected to execute their proposals over the course of six-months.
This formative research project aims to explore if climate change is causing vector-borne diseases (VBD) vectors to expand into high-altitude areas previously not conducive to transmission. In addition, it will investigate whether the rapid expansion of oil palm plantations in PNG changed vector ecology and pathogen transmission potential.
