The DISSECT project (https://research.sightsavers.org/project/dissect-developing-innovative-scalable-solutions) is a partnership with Sightsavers in close collaboration with Ministries of Health to develop innovative scalable solutions to entomology gaps and cross-border transmission of onchocerciasis (river blindness).
This approach includes developing new collection and trapping tools for blackflies which will be implemented in two cross-border areas: Malawi/Mozambique and Ghana/Cote d’Ivoire. The initiative also aims to encourage greater collaboration between the governments of these four nations, hopefully providing a model for how other countries can successfully work together to eliminate NTDs.
