One of the key pillars of GLIDE’s work is advocacy and elevating awareness of disease elimination and eradication efforts across the globe. We do this by developing messaging and briefing documents, writing thought leadership pieces, and amplifying global and regional messages via joint advocacy campaigns with partners.
REALISING A WORLD FREE OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES OF POVERTY
As a health institute based in Abu Dhabi, we are in a unique geographic location at the heart of three continents – Africa, Asia, and Europe – and aim to utilize this positioning to elevate the voices of people affected by our diseases of focus and those on the frontline. Through our storytelling, we aim to spark interest in global health initiatives, specifically on efforts to eliminate and eradicate infectious diseases. We value the pivotal role the young people and the next generation have and we urge them to be active participants and advocates in helping realise a world free of infectious diseases of poverty.
Our advocacy encompasses several areas, including:
- Malaria
- Polio
- NTDs
- Integration
- Health systems strengthening and universal health coverage
- Pandemic Preparedness
- The intersection between climate change and disease elimination
- Global health equity
We identify key global health and development meetings over the course of the year at which we convene events to build a drumbeat to drive momentum and support for disease elimination and eradication.
