Falcon Awards for Disease Elimination

 

In April 2021, GLIDE launched the Falcon Awards for Disease Elimination in an effort to help partners go further and faster towards their disease elimination goals. After a successful call for abstracts, GLIDE received 220 applications from across 44 endemic countries seeking to eliminate one or more of GLIDE’s focus diseases; onchocerciasis, lymphatic filiariasis, polio and malaria. Ultimately, 10 finalists were selected and submitted to an esteemed Jury of Public Health experts to determine 5 winners of up to $200,000 to advance elimination in their disease area. The winning projects were presented by Dr. Maha Barakat at EXPO 2020 Dubai on the occasion of Universal Health Coverage Day.
