Pandemic Action Network MENA Working Group Meeting | Marriot Palm Jumeirah | 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm
On the sideline of COP 28, the Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE) and the Pandemic Action Network (PAN) seek to welcome members of our Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Working Group (WG) to the UAE and meet in person for the first time for the opportunity to discuss our shared agenda going into COP28 and beyond into 2024, followed by informal networking.
The MENA Working Group comprises a diverse and dedicated team of members, including governmental bodies, national research institutes, regional development banks, impact funds, international foundations, key multilateral agencies, and CSO network.

Climate Change and Infectious Diseases: A Roundtable Discussion on Climate Change, Health and Infectious Diseases, and Sustainable Solutions | Level 1, Parcel B, COP28 Blue Zone | 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
This roundtable discussion will bring together experts from public health, renewable energy, and sustainable development to call for the urgent need to achieving net zero emissions, shed light on the impacts of climate change on health, and how it contributes to the emergence and spread of infectious diseases. It also aims to highlight action-oriented solutions to combat climate change and infectious diseases, recognizing that disease elimination and eradication are the ultimate in both equity and sustainability.

Antimicrobial Resistance and Climate Change: Two Interlinked Global Challenges | Atoms 4Climate Pavilion, Blue Zone | 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
The event will look at the link between climate-related events and the rise of Antimicrobial Resistance and Climate Change (AMR). The panel composed of leading AMR experts, global health organisation representatives, policymakers and institution will look into actionable recommendations to tackle the impact of climate change on antimicrobial resistance.
