Most people working in public health will use artificial intelligence long before anyone explains it to them. AI for ALL exists to help address that gap.
Across four modules, the course takes you from what AI actually is, and what it is not, through how these systems work, into using generative AI tools well in your own work, and finally into the questions of bias, privacy, accountability and human oversight that decide whether any of it can be trusted.
It is designed to be genuinely usable: online, self-paced, in plain language, with no coding and no technical prerequisite. By the end you will be able to engage with AI confidently, responsibly and strategically in your own organization, and to apply it to the work of eliminating disease in the communities you serve.

| 01 Understanding AI: the fundamentals | Where AI came from and the milestones that shaped it. The difference between AI, machine learning, generative AI, and large language models. The main categories of AI and how they already appear in everyday life and across industries. Common misconceptions, and a realistic picture of what these systems can and cannot do today. |
| 02 How AI works: a deep dive | An accessible look at what sits behind these systems: how models use data, algorithms, and machine learning to find patterns, produce outputs, and improve. How generative AI and large language models are trained, and how data quality, model design, and human oversight determine whether the result can be relied on. |
| 03 Working with AI: prompting, use cases and project selection | The practical module. How to write clear and purposeful prompts, how to refine what the tool gives back, and how to spot the use cases that matter in your own organization. Then a structured way to choose between AI projects, weighing impact, feasibility, resources, risk and fit with what your organization is already trying to do. |
| 04 AI ethics and the future: navigating the AI era | Bias, fairness, privacy, transparency, accountability and human oversight, alongside the real risks of using these systems carelessly. The module closes on where AI is heading and what that means for organizations, industries and society. |
