An inspiring figure and a beacon of hope for all who reside in this beautiful country, our Mother, the Mother of the Nation, HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, once said, “Women are the key to world peace.” In a nation recognized as one of the safest globally, where women are empowered to lead and participate in both the public and private sectors, Emirati women have gained international acclaim for their remarkable achievements. From scientists to politicians and even astronauts, Emirati women are not only forging new paths but also motivating others to pursue their ambitions and successes.

One notable strength women possess is their unique perspective on promoting peace, focusing on broader societal needs. Historically, women have consistently demonstrated their ability to nurture future generations while resolving conflicts effectively.

Investing in girls’ education yields a return of $2.80 for every dollar spent. This statistic highlights the direct economic benefits, but the indirect benefits, particularly in fostering peace, are even more profound. While one might question how education can promote peace, it fundamentally plays a transformative role in creating sustainable, peaceful futures. Similarly, health is a critical determinant of peace. Global actors and international agencies have underscored the interconnectedness of education—especially women’s education and empowerment—and health with world peace. The adage “a healthy, educated mother raises a healthier, more prosperous generation” encapsulates this idea.

Over the past decades, the UAE has extended its efforts beyond its borders to promote education and health, celebrating exceptional women whose contributions have made a significant impact on both local and international communities. Therefore, let us come together on August 28, 2024, to celebrate Emirati Women’s Day, honoring our accomplishments as a progressive nation and aspiring for a brighter, healthier future.
